Present Process Model

What is the Present Process Model?

1 Being Present in Your Body

Whatever your day is like, you can be more present, agile, and calm in it by honoring and paying attention to your body!

Perhaps you are excited or nervous about your day, looking ahead to events, being with people or being in solitude. How does your body feel? Maybe you are “up”? “Buzzing?” Or, a part of your body feels “Heavy”? Being attuned to your own body, your sense of it, and what it’s telling you is a first step to being more relaxed, present, and ultimately, joyful!

Psalm 46:10, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Peter 5:7

2 Being Present and Attuned in Relationship

Are you paying attention to what is happening Presently in relationships? Are you agile, spontaneous, attuned to yourself and others? Being present and attuned in relationship means “in the moment” attention to others and ourselves as whole persons, honoring everything about each other and what we mean to each other.

Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 2:3-4, 1 Corinthians 10:24

3 Being Present in Your Mind

Are you aware of your thoughts, thought patterns, and how they are impacting you? Perhaps the past or future is more present in your mind than your Present! Are your thoughts encouraging? Are they judgmental? What emotions follow-on from your thoughts? You will have more peace and joy in your life when you manage and grow your thought life!

2 Corinthians 10:5, Philippians 4:8, Ephesians 4:27-29, James 4:7, Galatians 5:1

4 Being Present with Your Emotions

Can you talk about emotions you are experiencing? Are you connected to your emotions “in the moment”? Perhaps you struggle to feel your emotions or fear being overwhelmed by them. Healthy connection to your emotions is Life Giving! You will have more Life in your life when you can be present and in right relationship with your emotions!

Psalm 119:11, Ephesians 4:26, Isaiah 61:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

5 Being Present Spiritually

Being Present spiritually means being connected in the moment, soul and Holy Spirit. The previous steps can provide a foundation for spiritual awakening, connection and growth. Being spiritually attuned is supported by the preceding steps. In continuous and deep spiritual growth there is less reliance on the preceding steps.

Romans 12:12, Philippians 4:7, 1 Peter 3:3-4, John 14:6, John 16:33, Ephesians 5:15-21

6 Being Present and Available to Others

Being Present is a gift to ourselves and others! We learn who we are and grow and give in thriving relationships by understanding boundaries and sharing with compassion – the good things and the hard things. It is life changing! Being Present and Available to others!

James 1:19, Matthew 10:16, Psalm 139:5, Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Corinthians 13, Ephesians 4:15, Matthew 7:3-5

7 Flourishing

Flourishing in the Present Process Model reflects a way of living in which individuals are joyfully oriented toward what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise—and actively participate in bringing these qualities into the world! As presence deepens across body, mind, emotions, relationships, and spirit, life is engaged with growing freedom, creativity, and delight. Flourishing is the lived joy of co-creating what is life-giving—expressing beauty, goodness, and purpose in ways that bless both oneself and others!

Philippians 4:8, Psalm 16:11, Romans 12:2, Isaiah 60:1, Colossians 3:15–17, Proverbs 4:23
